PBCSD Undergrounds Overhead Utilities

Fire prevention benefits have quickly emerged from PBCSD’s Undergrounding Overhead Utilities Program. The program was first initiated in 2012 to increase electrical and communication reliability while reducing the duration of power outages experienced during storm events. Since then, the program has expanded and taken on significant importance by also reducing the risk of wildfire ignition caused by downed powerlines.
