PBCSD Upgrades Water Distribution System


In 1987, a devastating wildfire known as the Morse Fire tore through parts of the Del Monte Forest destroying over 30 homes in the Huckleberry Hill neighborhood. Following a detailed post-incident review, PBCSD identified water system deficiencies and immediately initiated a program to design and construct improvements. This program, which began in 1994, replaced 17 miles of undersized pipes that significantly improved the amount of water delivered to fire hydrants, upgraded and installed emergency power facilities at three water distribution pump stations, constructed an additional 800,000-gallon water storage tank on Huckleberry Hill, and installed 200 new fire hydrants throughout Pebble Beach.
