1.
SUMMARY OF
MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY:
The maintenance department repaired the solids grinder
at pump station P-3 (Spyglass Hill Road and 17-Mile Drive), replaced a pump
seal at P-4 (Highway 68 and Crest Road Cul-de-sac), installed hitching post at
Indian Village, replanted fallen cypress tree at pump station P-1 (Cypress
Point), removed two fallen trees at the administration building site, removed
fallen tree on perimeter fencing of Forest Lake Reservoir, located 4,600 feet
of sewer main line near water pipeline replacement project and coordinated
annual service on District fire extinguishers.
District facilities experienced storm conditions in the first week of
January. All pump stations continued operations
during frequent power outages that varied in cumulative length from 2 hours at
pump station P-4 to 39 hours at pump station P-1.
2. WASTEWATER FLOW MEASUREMENTS:
Average daily wastewater flows measured in units of mgd
(million gallons per day) at the PBCSD Carmel gate flow metering station and
the CAWD treatment plant for November and December are shown below.
Plant PBCSD %
5-year Average 5-year
Average
November 1.580
mgd .588 mgd 37 % 1.782 mgd (+ 11
%) .568 mgd (- 3 %)
December 1.811
mgd .696 mgd 38 % 2.001 mgd (+ 9 %) .667 mgd (- 4 %)
Charts showing the quantity of PBCSD wastewater flow
recorded during the months of November and December and a graph showing average
daily wastewater flows from PBCSD and the CAWD treatment plant for the last
twelve months as well as the five-year average for each month are attached.
3. RECYCLED
WATER USE:
Total irrigation water demand for the 2004-05 water year
(October 1 to September 30) through December is 90 acre-feet including 78
acre-feet or 84 % of reclaimed water.
The total water demand year to date is 26 % below the 10-year average
usage of 121 acre-feet and potable water usage of 12 acre-feet is 61% below the
10-year average of 31 acre-feet for this point of the water year. Two attached charts show the total water and
potable water usage recorded on a daily basis for November and December. Four additional charts and a graph summarize
total, reclaimed and potable water usage on a monthly basis for the 2003-04
water year and for the previous ten water years.
4. RESIDENT
COMPLAINTS & REQUESTS:
Monterey Peninsula Country Club maintenance staff
reported on December 29th water flowing out of a manhole located on
the access road to the MPCC golf course maintenance facility off Mission
Road. The maintenance department
responded immediately, cleared a stoppage in the manhole located at the intersection
of Mission Road and Forest Lodge Road, observed approximately 200 gallons of
sewage overflowed from a manhole on the MPCC access road to an area on the bank
of Sawmill Gulch and cleaned the area.
The California Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board and
the Monterey County Division of Environmental Health were notified.
5. SEWER
LINES RODDING:
The maintenance department used the rodding machine to
remove roots in the following sewer main lines used for temporary connection to
hospitality tents for the AT&T golf tournament located next to the 3rd
fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links.

During this period, the maintenance crew marked sewer or
reclaimed water lines at the following locations in response to underground
service alert (USA) calls. Contractors
or other utilities are required to contact the USA system prior to performing
construction activities that involve trenching or other underground work. The system is designed to provide
underground utility locations to the contractor so that the construction work
can be completed without damaging the existing utility lines. The District identifies the location of
wastewater lines with green paint and reclaimed water lines with purple paint.
