1.
SUMMARY
OF MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY:
The
maintenance department painted the generator housing at pump station P-5
(Easement below Sunset Lane), rebuilt a pump at P-8 (Inn at Spanish Bay), performed
semiannual maintenance of valves on the recycled water pipelines, removed
vegetative growth at Indian Village, received an 8-hour training course from
ACWA/JPIA (Association of California Water Agencies – Joint Powers Insurance
Authority) on traffic control and trenching safety, arranged for installation
of a pressure reducing water valve for the fire department quarters, skylight
replacement in the office of the engineering and maintenance assistant and
semiannual maintenance of utility truck PB-1 and dump truck PB-6.
2. WASTEWATER FLOW
MEASUREMENTS:
An
average daily wastewater flow of 584,000 gallons per day (gpd) was measured at
the PBCSD Carmel gate flow metering station in July, which represents 33 % of
the total flow of 1,793,000 gpd measured at the CAWD treatment plant. The PBCSD flow is 3 % above the five-year
average of 565,000 gpd for July and the CAWD total flow is 2 % below the
five-year average of 1,836,000 gpd for July.
A chart showing the quantity of PBCSD wastewater flow recorded during
the month of July and a graph showing average daily wastewater flows from PBCSD
and the CAWD treatment plant for the past twelve months as well as the
five-year average for each month is attached.
3. RECYCLED WATER
USE:
Total
irrigation water demand for the 2004-05 water year (October 1 to September 30)
to date is 699 acre-feet including 523 acre-feet or 75 % of recycled
water. Total demand for the water year
is 11 % below the 10-year average usage of 788 acre-feet for this point in the
water year. The August flushing cycle
used 15 acre-feet of potable water.
Approximately 90 acre-feet of potable water have been used in flushing
cycles during the current water year, which accounts for 51 % of the total
potable water use of 176 acre-feet.
Two
attached charts show the total water and potable water usage recorded on a
daily basis for July and August to date.
Two additional charts and a graph summarize total, recycled and potable
water usage on a monthly basis for the 2004-05 water year to date and for the
previous ten water years.
