Operations:
Emergency Incident
Responses:
On November 14, fire crews responded to a
report of vehicle fire on Lisbon Road.
Upon arrival the crews discovered an electrical fire that had been
extinguished prior to fire department arrival.
The vehicle was a motor cycle and damage was estimated at approximately
$100.
On November 30, fire crews responded to a
report of structure fire on Crest Road.
Upon arrival crews found a stove fire.
The fire was confined to the stove.
Damage is estimated at approximately $200.
On November 15, fire crews responded to a
medical emergency call on Costado Road.
A correct address was not given to dispatch. The fire crew requested clarification of the address from the
reporting party and proceeded to the incident.
Consequently, a late response occurred.
On November 21, fire crews were called to
investigate an unidentified odor on El Bosque Drive. Nothing was found.
Dispatch was working another incident at the time the fire crew arrived
and was not able to record the correct arrival time. Consequently, a late response was recorded.
Other incident responses are listed on the
Monthly Response Activity Report.
Apparatus and Equipment:
All district apparatus are in service.
Annual winter maintenance on Reserve
Engine 6621 and Engine 6611 is complete.
The remaining equipment will be scheduled in the upcoming months.
Training:
Emergency Medical System Continuing Education Drills:
Personnel reviewed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) curriculum,
practiced skills and completed written tests to compile Continuing Education
Units (CEU’s). EMT’s are required to
complete 24 hours of CEU’s every two years to keep their certification current.
Company Performance Standard Drills:
Company Performance Standards are designed to keep personnel proficient
in basic fire ground evolutions. Master
stream operations were the assigned evolution for the month of November.
Multi-Company Drills:
The multi-company drill scheduled in November allows individual
companies to interoperate in different arenas of the fire service.
Battalion personnel participated in vertical ventilation practices for
residential occupancies.
No multi-company drill was scheduled for December. However, companies were required to attend
vertical ventilation deployments.
Prevention:
General Information:
FAE Jennifer Valdez has completed her
temporary assignment in the Fire Prevention Bureau. Jennifer gave birth to a new daughter Ava on December 29th. We will be researching avenues to fill this
vital position in the Bureau.
Staff has been preplanning for fire and life
safety inspections associated with the AT&T Golf Tournament. The event is scheduled to start on February
7, 2005.
Staff has contacted the Pebble Beach Company
Community Affairs and has confirmed the date of the Open House as July 23, 2005
Fire Captain Jones stood by at Spanish Bay
for the New Years Eve event. This was
required due to exits being blocked by decorations.
Fire Defense:
Staff has met with OSAC and the Pebble Beach
Company and will be recommending some minor modifications to wording in the
Fire Defense Plan prior to being printed.
Public Education and Training:
Fire Captain Jones and the crew of Fire
Captain Scott trained 8 members of a local Cub Scout troop on the use of
extinguishers at the station on December 2nd.
Fire Captain Jones conducted a CPR/AED
re-certification class at Monterey Peninsula Country Club for 15 employees on
December 15th.
Plan Review and Inspections:
The following inspections and plan checks
were completed during this reporting period:

of plans were received for review this month.
