        Subject:          Status of Capital Improvement Program Projects

1. Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project

 

Monterey Peninsula Engineers, Inc. (MPE) made good progress on the Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project completing service connection extensions and pavement restoration on the new Los Altos Drive line and installation of slurry seal pavement coating on 17-Mile Drive, Spyglass Hill Road, Bird Rock Road and Viscaino Road.  Work is underway on the installation of 1,700 feet of water main line near the Monterey Peninsula Country Club (MPCC) clubhouse.  

 

MPE has earned $1,315,508 or 84 % of the revised contract amount of $1,573,959.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $242,549 of the budget of $265,000 for design and construction support engineering services. 

 

2.  2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project

 

A construction contract with a value of $526,250 was executed with D’Arcy and Harty Construction for the 2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project.  The contractor expects to begin field work in August.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $32,815 of the budget of $89,260 for design and construction support engineering services. 

 

3. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

 

Granite Construction Company constructed the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station.  Remaining work items include installation of a gate and erosion control landscaping. Grading improvements in the wastewater line easement below Sunridge Road along the Fire Road 23 alignment were included in the project to allow the use of excess excavated soil material on site.  The Granite work was performed on a time and materials basis for a cost of approximately $40,000.

 

4.  Forest Lake Reservoir Project

 

A recommendation to increase the value of the construction contract for the Forest Lake Reservoir Component of the Expanded CAWD / PBCSD Wastewater Reclamation Project is included in Agenda Item Number 14A.

 

5. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

 

New instrumentation controls are operating at all eight wastewater pump stations.  Alvarez Technology telephone technicians and instrumentation programmer Doug Buck are completing integration of the new SCADA system with the District local area computer network.
