            Subject:          Status of Capital Improvement Program Projects

1. Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project

 

Monterey Peninsula Engineers, Inc. (MPE) made good progress on the Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project completing the installation of 1,700 feet of water main line near the Monterey Peninsula Country Club (MPCC) clubhouse.  The project is substantially complete with the exception of 600 feet of water main line that will be installed in the new access road to the MPCC clubhouse, which is scheduled for construction later this fall.  Remaining punch list work items are scheduled to be completed within several weeks.  

 

MPE has earned $1,420,799 or 90 % of the revised contract amount of $1,573,959.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $253,401 of the budget of $265,000 for design and construction support engineering services. 

 

2.  2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project

 

A notice to proceed was issued on August 17th to D’Arcy and Harty Construction for the 2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project.  The contractor expects to begin field work the last week of August on the $526,250 construction contract and estimates the project will be completed within several months.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $34,244 of the budget of $89,260 for design and construction support engineering services. 

 

3. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

 

Remaining work items for the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station include installation of a gate by Granite Construction Company and erosion control landscaping by the Pebble Beach Company.

 

4. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

 

New instrumentation controls are operating at all eight wastewater pump stations.  Alvarez Technology telephone technicians and instrumentation programmer Doug Buck are completing integration of the new SCADA system with the District local area computer network.
