         Subject:          Status of Capital Improvement Program Projects

1. Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project

 

Monterey Peninsula Engineers, Inc. (MPE) made good progress on the Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project completing installation of 300 feet of water main line near the Monterey Peninsula Country Club clubhouse and 3,300 feet on 17-Mile Drive between Bird Rock Road and Signal Hill Road.  Pavement repairs were also completed on upper Sonado Road.  MPE has earned $ 900,973 or 57 % of the revised contract amount of $1,573,959.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $209,600 of the budget of $265,000 for design and construction support engineering services.  The construction contract requires the project be completed by July.

 

2.  2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project

 

A recommendation to approve plans and specifications for the 2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project and authorize an invitation to bidders is included in Agenda Item Number 12.

 

3. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

 

Construction fieldwork for the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station will be scheduled in May.

 

4. Pump Station P-7 Wet Well Expansion Project

 

Mountain Mechanical Contracting, Inc., completed the repair of a water leak on the interior of the new 24,000-gallon fiberglass tank constructed for the P-7 Pump Station (18th Fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links) Wet Well Expansion Project.  This was the final remaining punch list work item and the contractor achieved final completion for the project.   

5. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

 

SBC has been on site installing the network telephone equipment required to allow connection over DSL lines between each pump station location and has not completed installation of a new line to pump station P-8 (Inn at Spanish Bay).  New instrumentation controls are operating at all eight wastewater pump stations.  The remaining work items include installation of radio antennas at several pump station sites and integration of the new SCADA system with the District local area computer network. 

 

6.  Forest Lake Reservoir Project

 

A status report for construction of the Forest Lake Reservoir Components of the Expanded CAWD / PBCSD Wastewater Reclamation Project is included in Agenda Item Number 10.
