            Subject:          Status of Capital Improvement Program Projects

1. Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project

 

Monterey Peninsula Engineers, Inc. (MPE) made good progress on the Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project completing installation of 5,200 feet of water main line and pavement restoration on 17-Mile Drive, Spyglass Hill Road and Bird Rock Road.  Remaining work items include 3,700 feet of water main line on Los Altos Drive and 1,700 feet near the Monterey Peninsula Country Club clubhouse.  

 

MPE has earned $1,172,844 or 75 % of the revised contract amount of $1,573,959.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $218,162 of the budget of $265,000 for design and construction support engineering services.  The construction contract requires the project be completed by July.

 

2.  2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project

 

Plans and specifications for the 2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project are out to bid.  A pre-bid conference is scheduled for May 24th and bid opening is scheduled for June 9th.  E2 Consulting Engineers has earned $22,040 of the budget of $89,260 for design and construction support engineering services. 

 

3. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

 

Granite Construction has scheduled fieldwork to commence the last week of May for the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station.  The Granite work will be completed for a cost of $35,000.

 

4.  Forest Lake Reservoir Project

 

A status report for construction of the Forest Lake Reservoir Components of the Expanded CAWD / PBCSD Wastewater Reclamation Project is included in Agenda Item Number 9. 

 

5. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

 

SBC has been on site completing installation of the network telephone equipment required to allow connection over DSL lines between each pump station location.  New instrumentation controls are operating at all eight wastewater pump stations.  The remaining work items include installation of radio antennas at several pump station sites and integration of the new SCADA system with the District local area computer network.
