5. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

No appeals were received for the Monterey County Zoning Administrator approval of the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station.  Monterey County Building Department is requiring a geotechnical report be submitted as part of the grading permit application.  Construction fieldwork will be scheduled in the spring.

6. Pump Station P-7 Wet Well Expansion Project

Mountain Mechanical Contracting, Inc., performed repairs on the interior of the new 24,000-gallon fiberglass tank to repair a water leak in December.  The maintenance department subsequently reported the presence of ground water in the tank and identified the source of water in the area of the tank wall recently repaired.  The contractor will be required to repair the tank under warranty.

7.  Recycled Water Pipeline Cathodic Protection System Project

Corrpro Companies achieved substantial completion after performing field tests of the cathodic protection system on three sections of the recycled water pipeline most susceptible to corrosion located in the vicinity of Pebble Beach Golf Links including areas near the maintenance building and the 10th green, near the 15th fairway and Whitman Lane and near the driving range and Forest Lake Road.  Corrpro has earned $95,500 of the $103,000 contract to date.  An allocation of $125,000 is included in the reclamation project budget for this project.

8. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

New instrumentation controls are operating at seven of the wastewater pump stations and are scheduled to be operating at pump station P-3 next week.  SBC is in the process of installing the DSL telephone network between each pump station location and has indicated the network should be completed within 2 weeks.  Once the DSL network is operating, the new SCADA system will be integrated with the District local area computer network.

9.  Sewer Line Repair at 1470 Cypress Drive

The temporary repair of the sewer line at the rear of 1470 Cypress Drive performed adequately during the recent wet weather.  Granite Construction Company will continue to maintain the temporary plastic sheeting that provides erosion protection in the slide area.
