            Subject:          Status of Capital Improvement Program Projects

1. PBCSD Public Facilities Improvement Project

 

Retention of $50,000 of the revised contract amount of $2,956,294 will be released after submittal of all lien releases and final completion of the project is achieved.  The Paul Davis Partnership is completing preparation of as-built plans based on contractor field notes.

 

2. Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement Project

 

A recommendation to increase the scope of the Third Priority Fire Protection Water Pipeline Replacement project is included in Agenda Item No. 10.

 

3.  2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project

 

E2 Consulting Engineers visited each of the sewer lines identified for replacement with District staff and is preparing plans and specifications for the 2005 Sewer Line Replacement Project.  The bid documents are scheduled to be ready for consideration by the Board at its April meeting.  An allocation of $500,000 is included in the 2004-05 fiscal year budget for this project. 

 

4. Pescadero Canyon Fire Road Improvements Project

 

A geotechnical report has been submitted to the Monterey County Building Department as part of the grading permit application for the Pescadero Canyon fire road improvements project located off 17-Mile Drive across from the entrance to the Carmel Hill Fire Station.  Construction fieldwork will be scheduled in the spring.

 

5. Pump Station P-7 Wet Well Expansion Project

 

Mountain Mechanical Contracting, Inc., has prepared an acceptable plan for repairing a leak on the interior of the new 24,000-gallon fiberglass tank constructed for the P-7 Pump Station (18th Fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links) Wet Well Expansion Project.  Fieldwork will be scheduled within the next several weeks, depending on weather and PB golf links operational considerations.  

 

6.  Recycled Water Pipeline Cathodic Protection System Project

 

Remaining punch list items for the recycled water pipeline cathodic protection system project include submittal of final testing results, repair of damaged roadway pavement and submittal of as-built plans.  Ten percent of the $103,000 contract will be retained until after final completion is achieved.

 

7. Pump Station SCADA System Improvement Project

 

New instrumentation controls are operating at all eight of the wastewater pump stations with the completion of installation work at pump station P-3 (Spyglass Hill Road and 17-Mile Drive).  SBC has been on site installing the network telephone equipment required to allow connection over DSL lines between each pump station location.  The remaining work items include installation of radio antennas at several pump station sites and integration of the new SCADA system with the District local area computer network.
