Open House 2006

The District’s annual Public Safety Day and Open House was held on Saturday, June 17, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The annual event provides residents an opportunity to visit with the District directors, staff and their neighbors as well as to ask questions and learn valuable information about District services. This year’s event included several activities including tours of the District’s Fire Department and recently completed Forest Lake Reservoir. It was a fun-filled day with a barbeque hosted by the District and catered by the Pebble Beach Company, with hamburgers, veggie burgers, chicken, hot dogs, salads, dessert and soft drinks. Fire Department staff provided children with “hands-on” experience in fire safety as well as other household and safety practices. And, there were prizes for all children who attended. The event included sales of new and annual servicing of existing fire extinguishers at District cost. Firefighters provided demonstrations on the proper use of fire extinguishers. Paramedics from Westmed Ambulance Company provided free blood pressure checks and American Red Cross volunteers offered information on disaster preparedness and sold disaster kits. A variety of professionals in the fields of fire protection, emergency care, wastewater disposal, solid waste disposal and recycling were available to share information at the Open House.
